valentines day special

Another day, another giveaway.

I was really surprised at the response yesterday. You all had some great questions. If anyone wants a mini lesson, go to my Facebook page and go through the questions and answers. There is a lot to learn from everyone there. I also learned a lot about all of you that will be helpful. I’ve been thinking for a long time, over a year, that I need to make some short youtube videos for tips. I got some ideas from all of you and will be making a list. I would like to add to that today.

The gift today is a framed mini painting. The paintings themselves are approximately 2.5″ x 3″ and 3″  x  3″ . You can take your choice which painting you would like. Click HERE to view the paintings.

So, your task for today is to go to the page with the mini paintings, then come back here on the blog or Facebook and make a comment. Just give me the name of the painting you would want. Then, I would like to have more info from you about a topic that might be good idea for a short video. Not a whole long lesson, but some short tips to help you. (Those that aren’t artists can just give me the name of the painting.) This would truly help me too.

Good luck everyone and happy hunting,

And, the winner for yesterdays giveaway, the book “How to Create Beautiful Paintings” is Christine Andrada.

They are all lovely little gems–I’d be lucky to have any of them but, if I had to pick a favorite, Sky 17 or Sky 4.

As for small youtube topics, I’d LOVE little demos or pointers on painting nocturnes!

Oh, my goodness! How to choose from these little gems?
Sky #16 would be my first choice, but also love #6, #7 & #14.

I feel like I need some help with brushwork since I tend to blend, blend, blend. Is that a bad thing?

Thank you so much for your great posts and willingness to share your creative talents with us all. My question for you is…What are a few tips you can give me to bring a picture to life? Sometimes my paintings seem flat or just dull and I don’t seem to know what to do to fix the problem.

I would loove to have SKY#12….re vid…i think , how to paint background so it doesnt overwhelm the focal point , or foreground

Diane. that is a great idea for a video tip. I’ll have to dig out a painting that is just OK and do something with it.

    Sky 17 is mydreamy choice.

So Becky when/how do you do these mini paintings? -are they studies for larger paintings?

I think a lesson on ‘finding inspiration’ would be a great YouTube subject

How does one say which one is loveliest…but 2 is quite striking.
Video idea or tip….reflections on water.

Thanks Susan. I have you down. Someone else asked me about that. Good idea.

Logistically, I put some double sided tape on the back to make it easier on the easel. Often the little ones are trying new color combinations or just trying to come up with ideas for larger. I’ll have to think about the ‘finding inspiration’ but it’s a good topic. Thanks

A lot about brushwork is personal preference. There are people that blend a lot and others that don’t. Parts of my paintings are blended quite a bit, others not so much. I’ve had others ask about brushwork,so I definitely need to do at least one video on brushwork.

Thanks Veronica. That sounds like a good topic. I do have a blog post about it somewhere in the mix. I’ve actually thought that I should just go through my blogs and add videos to better explain. Thanks
