I’ve really been having fun with this contest. Why didn’t I do it before???

I’ve loved the response and interaction with all of you and the crowd is growing each day. You don’t see all of it, because I’m getting emails, blog comments and comments on Facebook. So inspiring. I’ve gotten so many ideas for blog topics and tips for some short youtube videos. I’ve got a running list that I’m making and hoping to get started on it right after Christmas. Thank you everyone.

OK, now ready for the next giveaway. The New Year is coming upon us and if you don’t have your 2017 calendar, I’ve got one for you. Today. I would like you to go to the link,, to pick out your choice of two calendars. I’m making it easier today with only one choice. Click HERE to check out the calendars and again, go to my Blog, Facebook or email me at with your choice.

And, to keep it in line with the coming year, tell me one thing you want to accomplish next year as it pertains to your art if you are an artist, otherwise just let me know something that you want to focus on.

With your choice of calendar, I will send to you a pack of greeting cards too. (I’ll pick the cards, you pick the calendar.) I have two calendars: Trees and Skies. Click HERE to view them.

Then comment on 1 of these places.

As the new year approaches, I am planning to begin lessons with a new instructor… someone whose work I admire. Taking lessons will be a big change from just teaching three days a week. The challenge will be good for me.

My goal for the upcoming year is to put my artwork first. I find I feel so much better about any day, no matter how the day turns out, when I do my artwork first. A simple idea, but profound for me.

My goal for next year is to bump my marketing efforts up a notch.

I want to continue to paint more and to explore new ideas. I can’t do that without strengthening my marketing efforts! Who wants a warehouse full of art that no one will ever see anyhow?

Yep, I think marketing is the key factor. So, that’s my goal.

2017 Calendar – tough choice – I will go with the Trees.

Hi Becky, it seems that most contests really are frustrating to me because I never win but this contest has been fun. I love the artist interaction and tips so I’m playing because I’m also learning. This is THE best contest! My focus for next year is WORK. I need to be more disciplined about going in my studio and painting. I do have a goal to finish 3 very large paintings, but seeing your little mini’s has inspired me to make some small ones also. I already have the canvass, I just needed the push. If I had a question for you pertaining to this “what is your focus for next year” contest I would ask you the same question AND what helps you to be more disciplined in spending time painting. I love painting but my focus isn’t on creating works that sell, so it can’t be about making money for me. As always, I love your work.

Very good. I love the interaction too. I’m having a lot of fun and learning about everyone and giving me ideas. With this going on I’m trying to think what can I do next year to have more of this. I know I can’t have a giveaway like this every month, but I want it to be fun, interactive and a learning experience. I love teaching as much as painting. I’ve pulled back on a lot of things this year. I’ve had a lot to do with my elderly parents, but also my daughter’s family. Things are working out with my daughter and I’m helping less and less in her situation and my parents are going into assisted living so my life should be pretty much mine now. I’ve been working on more online courses. I want to continue with that and just paint. Online courses will give me more flexibility and freedom in my own life. I just bought another car yesterday (my granddaughter totaled mine, everything is fine). Anyway, I got a vehicle that will be easy to travel, paint and camp some. I’ve wanted to see more of the US. So, I’m thinking next year will be the time. Travel, plein air paint and online workshops. The discipline is in part because I’m single and need to pay my bills, but also I’m addicted. OK, I have you down Sherri. Ya never know, this might be it!

I get that. I’ve got some big ones I’m trying to get out of the studio and using all those old frames from when galleries closed. Little by little there is less. Just trying to pare down some of the “stuff” Good for you Shirley. It sounds like you’ve had a good start to your goal.

That is so true. I get kind of cranky when I’m not painting.
