10″ x 8″ oil on canvas panel
It seems like so long ago since I traveled painting around Europe for 2 1/2 months almost two years ago. A lot has happened since then. I’m starting a collection of European doorways and windows and this is one of them. I spent more time in Venice than I intended. I love exploring and walking those back alleys is the perfect way to do so. This was a small church door in an uncrowded part of Venice (not easy to find).
It kept the details of the stone above the doorway very painterly. I’m just not into all that detail, drives me crazy painting it and does nothing for me as far as the emotion of a painting. It’s more about the light and color.
