  1. Squint, squint, squint
  2. Stand back from the easel.
  3. Hold the paint brush at the end, not by the ferrule.
  4. Clean palette often
  5. Us a palette knife instead of brush to dip into the paint.
  6. Save leftover paint colors for grays.
  7. Clean your brushes after each use.
  8. Read instructions for use of solvents
  9. Dispose of paint supplies properly.
  10. Set up your paint palette the same every time.
  11. If you aren't painting for a few days, cover your paints with plastic or put them in the freezer.
  12. Keep the caps and tubes of paint clean so that the lids stay on.
  13. Don't eat while painting.
  14. Read labels so you know safety precautions
  15. Use good ventilation.
  16. Clean your brushes to prolong their life.
  17. Wipe extra paint off your brush with paper towels before cleaning in solvent.
