8" x 10" oil on canvas panel
I painted for over a week at Whiskeytown Lake Recreation Area. This one was toward the end of the trip. It was early morning with most of the canyon in shadow. When I started painting, the light reflecting on the river was the only contrast in the scene. Obviously, this is a time of day that the light moves quickly. I loosely blocked in the light and shadows, then went back to paint some detail.
The violet in the water contrasts not only against the darks, but also against the yellows in the lit hillside. The painting is priced unframed, but can be purchases with your choice of frame at an additional cost.
