I was in California around the Bay area painting with some friends at a park in a wetlands area when I painted this one. I’ve always liked to garden myself (it’s a family thing). I remember my grandmother always working in the yard with her flowers in the summer. My parents’ yard has always been over the top. Mom still spends a lot of time out there in her 80’s. Growing up, our oversize lot, which was close to an acre, was completely landscaped with over 50 varieties of rhododendrons, my mom’s favorites. Now my son has his own landscaping and design business.
So gardens, I always take note of them and paint them when I can. This particular painting is 5″ x 7″ in oil and up for my weekly auction. The auction starts at $50, so there is a good to be snatched up. Check it out at FLEETING MOMENTS.
