My workshops cover the elements of composition, values, color, lines,
shapes, space, and brushwork.
We will work on exercises to learn more about color, getting a glow or a
mood in a painting, taking an “ordinary” photo to something extraordinary.
Also, you will do some exercises to work on your texture and brushwork to
make your painting individual to you.
I want each student to paint one painting in the morning and one in the
afternoon. Rather than belabor detail (we all know how to paint detail) . I
think it is essential to get the basics and to paint as many different paintings
as possible. You will learn more painting two paintings than spending a
whole day on one painting.
I will paint a quick demo the first morning, so that you can see the process. I
will discuss my decisions and explain what I am doing. I will also do at least
two more demos for color and brushwork and explain again what I do here.
Each student will get individual attention from me. At the end of the 3 days
we will end with a critique. At that time, I will assess where you are and
what you need to work on.
